earthYou already know if you’ve been reading the sun series that the sun’s energy is really vital for your health.

Did you know that the earth’s energy is important as well?

We as humans, used to get the earths energy naturally, now we spend most of our time indoors and if we go outside we put on shoes.

When our bodies are in direct contact (shoes off!) with the earth, the earth’s energy grounds our body and gives us energy, reduces inflammation in our bodies, improves sleep, reduces stress, reduces hormonal symptoms, eliminates jet lag, normalizes biological rhythms (think sleep/circadian rhythms), relieves tension headaches, helps support adrenal health and the list goes on!

And guess what? There are emerging research studies to support these facts.

And no, you won’t be the only person laying around soaking up the earth’s good energy… The Tour de France cyclists and tons of other athletes frequently use Earthing to speed up recovery and increase sleep quality.

So this summer, (and winter too) get outside and enjoy the benefits of Earthing, encourage your children to do it, too. The best part is, it’s free!

Here are some ways to get in touch (literally) with the earth:

  • Kick off your shoes and get outside barefoot. The longer, the better.
  • Hug a tree. Yes literally hug it.
  • Get dirty, play in the dirt. Plant something or weed the garden.
  • Get your feet wet in the ocean.
  • Stand on wet concrete.
