Essential Oils for Migraines

Posted · Add Comment

So you have a migraine… now what?

It probably hurts right, maybe you are a little sensitive to light?

The good news is that essential oils can help with the pain associated with those headaches. The biggest trick is to make sure you are using oils that don’t trigger migraines for you.

Most of my clients who suffer from migraines find that any of the “mint” oils (peppermint or spearmint) are migraine triggers. The good news is that there are some other oils that can help relieve your symptoms.

I am going to give you a choice of oils, and with migraines it may take a few different tries before you find the right combination.

Choose one oil from this list:

Clary Sage
Eucalyptus

Choose another from this list:
Chamomile (German)
Lavender
Marjoram
Rosemary
Melissa

And finally as a base:
Rose Hydrosol

Place 2 drops of each of your selected oils into the palm of your hands and rub them together, then cup your hands and inhale the aroma 3-4 times in a row.

If you get some relief massage it into your head and neck, and the soles of your feet.

Most of you probably don’t have Rose Hydrosol on hand, and that is okay too…just leave it out.

Some clients have success using peppermint on their toe-tips for additional relief, however use caution, as it can make migraines worse in some people.
